Building Engagement Program

The Building Engagement Program will be at SIAM CSE25! The mission of this program, organized by Sustainable Horizons Institute, is to expand the SIAM community by supporting individuals from all backgrounds while also catalyzing change in the community to create a welcoming society where everyone thrives, and benefits from a more innovative and robust science.

Benefits of the Building Engagement Program

Helps participants develop a sense of belonging in the community through:

  • Program orientation
  • Mentoring
  • Motivational workshops/activities

Supports participant technical growth through:

  • Small learning groups called “Guided Affinity Groups”
  • Entry-level tutorials
  • Career and professional development sessions

Provides opportunities for the community to:

  • Get involved as a volunteer
  • Contribute to creating a more innovative and welcoming society
  • Become an advocate

All BE sessions except meal functions are open to all CSE25 attendees.

Mentoring Program (in-person only)

The mentoring program is designed to match participants in the Building Engagement program (including but not limited to students, postdocs, faculty, and professionals) with experienced researchers. The mentors will help the mentees navigate the conference program and create meaningful interactions that promote mutual growth and development. Please indicate your interest in becoming a mentor and/or a mentee during the CSE25 online registration process before the early registration deadline.
