  • How to Participate

    SIAM requests that individuals limit themselves to giving one presentation: please choose from the formats listed below. The co-chairs will consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis when exceptional circumstances exist (e.g., presenter is ill, presenter is unable to obtain a visa). In no case should a presenter initially plan to present more than one talk or poster.

    In addition, students are invited to apply for the Broader Engagement program at the Sustainable Horizons website. We are delighted for CSE25 to feature the 10th anniversary of the Broader Engagement program.

  • Acceptance Notification

    Authors will be notified by email in November 2024.

  • Speaker Cancellation

    The Organizing Committee expects every speaker in a scheduled presentation to register and attend.

    If it becomes necessary for a speaker to cancel a presentation, they should try to find an alternate presenter immediately, preferably a co-author. See SIAM Policy on Substitute Speakers and Remote Presentations. Contact SIAM at meetings@siam.org immediately with any change to a scheduled presentation.

    A “no-show” or cancelled presentation can cause serious inconvenience to the attendees and organizers. The committee thanks all speakers in advance for their compliance to this request.

Submission Formats

Minitutorials

A minitutorial provides attendees with a valuable hands-on learning experience facilitated by experts, serving as an effective platform to introduce new projects and topics as well as to discuss areas of widespread interest that may not be as well suited for a traditional minisymposium. Minitutorials may consist of 1 of 2 parts, each of which runs the length of a minisymposium, with one (1) to three (3) speakers giving a tutorial on a current CSE topic. We encourage minitutorial proposals for CSE25 covering a diverse range of subjects, including (but not limited to) novel CSE research areas, communication and research skills, numerical libraries and simulation tools, general productivity enhancements and best practices, and initiatives focusing on education and diversity. Minitutorial proposals should be submitted using this form.

Minisymposia

A minisymposium generally consists of four (4) 15-minute presentations, with an additional five minutes for discussion after each presentation. To ensure balance, SIAM prefers a single individual not be the organizer or co-organizer of more than one minisymposium, however, organizers can submit up to two (2) parts per minisymposium, allowing up to eight (8) speakers. In addition, SIAM discourages minisymposia in which most of the speakers or co-authors come from the same institution. To offer a similar experience to all participants giving a presentation at the conference, most minisymposia will be extended after acceptance to include a related contributed talk as an additional presentation.

Prospective minisymposium organizers must submit a proposal consisting of a title, a description (not to exceed 1,500 characters, including spaces), a list of speakers, and presentation titles using the Conference Management System.

It is recommended the first speaker provide an overview of the topic area. Each minisymposium speaker should submit an abstract no longer than 1,500 characters, including spaces. The organizing committee will referee minisymposium proposals. The number of minisymposia may be limited to retain an acceptable level of parallelism in sessions.

SIAM requires minisymposium organizers propose sessions with a minimum of three (3) confirmed speakers by the minisymposium submission deadline. Sessions submitted with a majority of speakers listed as “TBD/TBA,” or using placeholders, risk immediate rejection.

Poster Minisymposia (Minisymposteria)

A minisymposium of posters (that is, a minisymposterium) consists of a collection of three or more posters by different presenters grouped around a central theme. The posters will be placed next to each other in a poster session.

Prospective minisymposterium organizers must submit using the the minisymposterium title, description (not to exceed 1,500 characters, including spaces), list of poster presenters and poster titles to the Conference Management System under “Propose Minisymposterium.”

Contributed Presentations in Lecture or Poster Format

Contributed presentations in lecture or poster format are invited in all areas consistent with the themes.

A poster format involves the use of non-electronic visual aids for mounting on a 4’ x 6’ or 4’ x 8’ poster board. A poster session is two hours long. Each contributor, either for a lecture or a poster, must submit a title and a brief abstract not to exceed 1,500 characters, including spaces.

Contributed presentations in lecture format are also invited as an alternative to poster presentations. To offer a similar experience to all participants giving a presentation at the conference, accepted contributed talks will be included as an additional presentation in a related minisymposium. A lecture format involves a 15-minute oral presentation with an additional five (5) minutes for discussion.

Please submit contributed presentations in lecture or poster format using the Conference Management System.
