Taste of Louisiana Welcome Reception – LSU Center for River Studies at the Water Campus

Tuesday, October 14, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Please RSVP when registering online for the conference.

The LSU Center for River Studies conducts research on the world’s major rivers with a specific focus on America’s Mississippi River. Located at the Baton Rouge Water Campus near the banks of the mighty Mississippi, LSU CRS houses one of the world's largest movable bed physical models—about the size of two basketball courts! In the CRS exhibition area, guests will enjoy a selection of traditional Louisiana hors d'oeuvres, one (1) complimentary beer, wine, or soft drink (with your drink ticket) and cash bar available for additional drinks. In addition to LSU CRS tours and treats, reception guests can visit across the street and on the riverside of the levee, the LSU Coastal Ecosystem Design Studio and the old municipal dock. These venues deliver picture perfect views of the river at sunset. A shuttle service will transport guests between the two locations.

Please note transportation to and from the LSU Center for River Studies is the responsibility of the participants. Ride share services (Uber and Lyft) can be used. Parking is also available adjacent to the center on Arches Street or in the parking lot on Water Street.

LSU Rural Life Museum Dinner and Tour

Thursday, October 16, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
$90 per person
Tickets must be purchased when registering online for the conference. Deadline for ticket sales is September 16, 2025.

The LSU Rural Life Museum celebrates the contributions of Louisiana’s diverse cultural heritage, which includes influences from French, Spanish, Native American, German, African, Acadian, and Anglo-American backgrounds from the late 18th through the early 20th centuries. Explore the vast collection of architecture and artifacts reflecting the rich cultural traditions of Louisiana's heritage to see how life was in a rural setting for early Louisianans. Guests will enjoy a buffet dinner of traditional “country cooking” in The Barn and have opportunities to tour—either self-guided or with docents—the museum, expansive grounds, and many buildings representing different purposes and architectural styles.

Please note transportation to and from the LSU Rural Life Museum is the responsibility of the participants. Ride share services (Uber and Lyft) can be used and free parking is available in front of the museum.
