Prize Canvassing Committee (PCC)
The Prize Canvassing Committee (PCC) is a standing committee whose members shall be appointed by the President upon recommendation of the Committee on Committees and Appointments. The purpose of the PCC is to increase the diversity of the candidate pool for SIAM Major Prizes with respect to gender, race, ethnicity, employer type, geographic location, and other factors. The PCC achieves this goal by causing nominations to be made of eligible candidates from groups traditionally underrepresented in the list of prize nominations and recipients.

Additional Details
Membership
The Prize Canvassing Committee shall consist of 6-9 SIAM members. Committee appointments shall be for three years, with one-third the members rotating off for replacement each year. The membership of the Prize Canvassing Committee shall be distinct and different from the membership of SIAM prize selection committees in order to ensure the independence of those committees. One person shall be designated as the committee chair.
Mode of Operation
Normally the Prize Canvassing Committee will conduct their work via teleconference and email, as determined by the PCC chair. PCC members may submit nominations, subject to the limitations of the SIAM Prize Program rules, but they will generally encourage other SIAM members to submit nominations of individuals chosen by the PCC. The role of the PCC is to screen lists for potential candidates for nomination to the SIAM Prize Program and to encourage others to make such nominations.
Nominations for SIAM Major Prizes typically occur in the summer and early fall to ensure that nomination packages are made prior to the nomination deadline, which is usually October 15th. Some prizes have a different nomination deadline and will need to be handled accordingly.
At the end of each cycle, the chair of the PCC shall issue a report on the contacts made. This is to enable SIAM HQ to produce data on the number of contacts and nominations generated from those contacts.
Reporting
The Prize Canvassing Committee shall report to the SIAM Major Awards Committee.
