Section Purpose

The SIAM Southeastern Atlantic Section was formed in 1977 to connect scientists, engineers, applied mathematicians, and graduate students in the southeastern region of the U.S. The purpose of this section is to further the aims and goals of SIAM by sponsoring technical meetings and other appropriate activities and by directly representing the applied mathematical interests of those members residing within the southeastern region of the U.S.

Members

Activities

The section holds an annual meeting every spring consisting of keynote lectures and contributing talks. Topical disciplines have included Computer Aided Design, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Numerical Solutions of PDEs, Complex Systems, and Bio-Mathematics. About 10% of the section members work either in industry or in government; about 90% belong to academic staff or are students.
