SIAM/ACM Prize in Computational Science and Engineering

SIAM awards the prize with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) for outstanding contributions to the development and use of mathematical and computational tools and methods for the solution of science and engineering problems.

Prize Description

The SIAM/ACM Prize in Computational Science and Engineering is awarded every two years by SIAM and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) in the area of computational science to one individual or a group of individuals in recognition of outstanding contributions to the development and use of mathematical and computational tools and methods for the solution of science and engineering problems.

Eligibility Criteria

The prize may be awarded to any member of the scientific community who meets the general guideline of the prize description. The qualifying contribution(s) must be publicly available and may belong to any aspect of computational science in its broadest sense.

Required Materials

  • Nominator’s letter of recommendation for candidate
  • Candidate's CV
  • Two or three letters of support from experts in the field

About the Award

The award includes a monetary prize and a certificate. SIAM will reimburse the recipient for reasonable travel expenses incurred in attending the meeting.

Award Date

The prize will next be awarded at the 2025 SIAM Conference on Computational Science and Engineering.

Award Presentation

The award will be presented at a major conference of SIAM or the ACM by the president of SIAM or ACM. The announcement of the award will appear in SIAM News, the SIAM website and appropriate electronic media.

Award Fund

The prize fund was established from charitable funds transferred from the SIAM Institute for the Advancement of Scientific Computing to SIAM for the purpose of endowing the prize fund.
