This intensive one-day course is designed for individuals who are eager to deepen their understanding and application of machine learning technologies in their respective fields. By focusing on technical skills for real-world applications, this course will enable participants to implement machine learning models in a trustworthy and appropriate way using Python, Google Colab, and PyTorch. The course offers not just upskilling opportunities to individuals who want to transition their career in AI and learn how AI can benefit companies and pioneer advancements in the field, but also serves as a platform to network and engage with experts and peers. Lunch will be served and there will be opportunities to meet and connect with other participants throughout the day.

The Gene Golub SIAM Summer School is a two-week graduate-level school focusing on topics of special interest in applied mathematics, computational science, and data science. It is held every summer at a different location around the world and is free to the approximately 40 students who are accepted.
-
These yearly events, hosted by SIAM in collaboration with local organizers, bring together mathematical modelers and company researchers to work on real-world problems of importance to industry and society. The GSMMC is a four-day mentored camp for graduate and advanced undergraduate students that focuses on modeling, teamwork, and communication skills. The MPI Workshop is a weeklong event typically held immediately after the GSMMC that assembles experienced mathematical modelers at all career stages and company researchers looking for mathematical insight into their research and development projects. Both events are typically held in June.
-
In this contest for high school juniors and seniors and sixth-form students, students experience what it’s like to work as a team to tackle a real-world problem under time and resource constraints, akin to those faced by professional mathematicians working in industry. M3 Challenge is entirely internet-based with no registration or participation fees, features a rigorous judging process with multiple rounds, and awards more than $100,000 (£75,000) in scholarships each year.
-
The MGB-SIAM Early Career Fellowship recognizes the achievements of early career applied mathematicians–particularly those belonging to racial and ethnic groups historically excluded from the mathematical sciences in the United States—and provides support for professional activities and career development. The fellowship reflects a joint commitment by Mathematically Gifted & Black (MGB) and SIAM to promote long-term engagement of fellows within SIAM and continued success within the wider applied mathematics and computational sciences community.
-
PIC Math is a program of SIAM and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) aiming to increase awareness among mathematical sciences faculty and students about non-academic career options, provide research experience working on real problems, and prepare students for industrial careers. Support is provided by the National Science Foundation.
-
The SIAM EDI Change Agents Program brings together groups of academic and industrial members, graduate and undergraduate students, post-docs, and established researchers who will individually and/or collectively work on initiatives to foster an equitable, diverse, and inclusive SIAM community.
-
The SIAM Postdoctoral Support Program was established using generous gifts made to the SIAM Postdoctoral Support Fund. The program provides up to $15,000 in financial support for postdocs to work with a mentor from a different institution. The goal is to foster direct research collaboration and professional development. Up to four postdoc/mentor pairs may be selected annually.
-
SIAM Quantum Intersections Convening - Integrating Mathematical Scientists into Quantum Research will bring quantum-curious mathematical scientists together with leading experts in quantum science for a three-day interactive workshop. This convening is designed to foster and increase the involvement and visibility of mathematicians and statisticians in quantum science research and education. Recognizing the critical role of mathematical scientists, this convening aims to promote multidisciplinary collaborations that bridge the gap between mathematics and quantum sciences. The SIAM Intersections Convening will be held in-person and will take place October 7 - 9, 2024 in Tysons, Virginia, U.S.
-
This program enables post-doctoral fellows and early career researchers to be strong advocates for federal investments in applied mathematics and computational science. Three to five fellowship recipients will be selected each year to serve two-year terms that include in-person and remote training; attending the biannual SIAM Committee on Science Policy Meetings in Washington, D.C.; interfacing with federal officials; and participating in an advocacy day on Capitol Hill.
-
The SIAM-Simons Undergraduate Summer Research Program will establish five sites across the United States for a program of research and learning in applied mathematics and computational science. Each site will consist of one faculty member mentoring two students who will learn how to conduct scientific research, effectively communicate mathematics and computational science principles, and will gain an improved understanding of how they can pursue a career in applied mathematics and computational science.
-
The SIAM Visiting Lecturer Program (VLP) provides the SIAM community with a roster of experienced and inspirational applied mathematicians and computational scientists in industry, government, and academia, who can speak on topics that are of interest to developing professional mathematicians.
-
Many SIAM Activity Groups host virtual webinars and seminars focused on topics related to their community. These live events are free to register for and attend. Visit the webpage of each SIAM Activity Group to learn about upcoming events. All recordings are posted on SIAM’s YouTube channel afterward.
-
The Tondeur Initiatives, funded by Philippe and Claire-Lise Tondeur, are a collaboration with the American Mathematical Society and Mathematical Association of America to create programs providing support to mathematicians interested in careers in business, industry, and government.
